  • DSL401 JCM2000 - Channel Switch issue.

I have a DSL401, great amp btw. Lately is has been giving me some grief. The amp will just randomly crackle a little and the volume will drop. When this happens the light on the switch flickers and gets dim. If I unplug the channel switch the amp works fine and I can change in and out of the overdrive channels using the front panel buttons without issue.

I can sometime be playing to 15 to 20 minuets before there is any issue. Also sometimes just using the foot switch to click in and out of the OD channel will get it back but not always. I have taken the foot switch apart and tested it with my meter as it not a terribly complicated device and everything seems okay.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Did all the solder connections look good in the footswitch?
If the footswitch is hardwired to it's cable, did you check for continuity from the footswitch to it's 1/4" plug?
If you can verify the footswitch is all good, then the problem will be in the footswitch circuitry of the amp.
If the schematic attached is the correct version, the amps footswitch jack is shown on pg.2, area A3.
