Mesa Boogie Mark IIC

what's the big deal with the Mark IIC's? They seem to get a lot more bread on eBay. What's the difference compared to a Mark IIB? Is it an easy mod?

It's possible to mod some IIB models to IIC+ though, and Mesa Boogie has done this in the past themselves, as far as I remember.

You can, but as far as I know, the schemes online are inaccurate. the MKIIB, is what brad gillis used on all of those night ranger albulms, and has that midrangy boogie tone to it. the c+, had a more aggressive tone, and all the metal heads like them. the key to a good MK-whatever tone is supposed to be that graphic eq, as it can dial out that squack that all of those MK boogies have, and the reason why scooping became such a fad.

Hmm, my 1979 Mark IIB 60w head without EQ sounds fine to me, but I confess that I had to tweak the lead gain and tone circuit for that...
