  • Fender 70's Deluxe Reverb Dating

    hello.

is there anyone, who can help with exactly dating a 70's silverface deluxe reverb amp?

since when did fender use plastic-wire, the white electrolytic caps (25/25V), and dark blue plastic-caps (looking kind of like orange drops, but blue)?

the serial number is A43555, and its really dusty...

i bought this one today, really cheap, i guess...

anyway, i'll have to spend some money, to get this baby rockin' (everything is original, the tubes too...) it starts to break at 2 and 1/2 !!!

the speaker is gone to heaven, or hell, who knows. and the tubes...

    greetings from vienna

Look on the controls. There should be date codes on them. A number like 1377639 would mean the following. 137 means CTS - the maker of the control - and the 7639 would mean the 39th week of 1976. The dates may vary, but they will give you a window of time for when the amp was made. Also look on larger parts for date codes in similar format - YYWW. Year/week. Transformers, large caps, even power resistors often have date codes. If you have an original speaker, that most likely has a date code on it.

The made up example was just a lucky guess. Wait until I do something real.
