  • Input resistance of Epi GA5

Is there any good reason why the input resistance is just 2x 68k rather than nearly 1meg as usuall in tube amps?

Does the 1meg resistor across the volume pot to ground have anything to do with this?

Conventional wisdom is that the Epi engineers didn't know how to design a tube amp

The VJ looks to be a copy of its more expensive Gibson cousing the Les Paul Junior GA-5 reissue/Gold Tone amp.

Replacing the 68k grid load resistor is a great mod for the Epi BTW. In fact, Epi is on version 3 of the amp now which comes with a 1meg resistor instead of the 68k as in previous versions.
