You know, I have seen a lot of amps in my last 50 years or so of live music. And much of that was in actual professional service work. But I have never seen a Dumble or a Trainwreck amp. I wonder how many actually have? I have seen a few schematics purported to be for them, but have no idea how accurate they are, being as how they are not "factory" schematics.

I only ever had one call about 12 years ago regarding a Trainwreck from a regular customer pro player who was about to buy it at £47,000 ($57,000). He wanted me to service it and make sure it was all OK. I declined because my insurance wouldn't cover it due to the value exceeding the single-item limit they set. We had a conversation about buying something so expensive and he decided against the idea.

Mention should be made of the Champs plus a Pignose that guitar tracks for Layla were performed on. Where are they now?
This isn't the future I signed up for.

The internet. Same with Klons. Musician message boards have made things wacky in the gear world.

I saw and touched a Trainwreck amp back in the 90's.
              I didn't play it.....

It was in a local infamous guitar store. (now gone)
They had tons of vintage cool gear.
They even had an original Klon under the glass counter.

The Trainwreck was insanely priced (so I thought) at the time,
sorry don't remember how much, just remember that it was nuts.
If it ain't broke I'll fix it until it is...
I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous...

Blackmore's Marshall Major amps were pretty famous at the time.

Mick Ronson during his Bowie years used those too.

Randy's white Marshall Superlead stack is a pretty iconic amp I suppose.

It being white was pretty unique, and he was supposedly one of the earliest users of the cascaded gain "one wire mod"...so named after him now as the "Randy Mod".

I've never been a fan of Randy's "tone" but I looked into this amp anyway when I saw your post. I guess Randy actually solicited Marshall and they made that amp for him with the cascade modification and white Tolex. So it was a factory special order. Marshall had to get their hands on it and contact the original employee that did the mod to make sure they got it right for their 2008 Randy Rhodes "signature" model.

How about Grand Funk Railroad's West amp stacks, required to achieve that particular roar the band were famous for. For GFR fans, I s'pose they were the bees knees. Can't say I've ever seen one. Though I dimly recall someone asking for advice, here or on another tech site.

Since Marshall's came up, can't omit this one. Not the first brand I think of for the 'ultimate bass tone', but sure worked for Mr. Kilmister.
