Hey folks! Just found the forum and was wondering if anyone could tell me about an amp I bought off a friend years ago. I did the garage band thing for a while (and most of those bands should have never been allowed out the garage!) then packed it away while life got in the way. Now, I'm trying to get back into playing a bit and am hoping to clean it up and sell it so that I can get something a little more appropriate for what I'm doing (maybe a Genz Benz Shen Jr or Roland AC60 or something along those lines). Back to the current amp - Balwin C1 Professional Series. You guys know the one - the one with the colorful tone buttons.

Can anybody tell me anything about it? I'm having a heck of a time finding any history, specs, current value or ANYthing! Anything you could tell me would be most appreciated. Thanks!

    Great forum!

The 2003 Vintage Guitar Price Guide lists the value $325-375 USD. That's a mint condition retail price range. Not a very sought after piece. I don't remember ever seeing a schematic.
WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
REMEMBER: Everybody knows that smokin' ain't allowed in school !

That's a huge help, LT. I appreciate it. I've got a guy who wants to make me an offer as-is (without cleaning up the pots, etc.) and I really wanted to know a wild ballpark. This one is far from mint but can still hold it's own if you're not going to be concerned about it being too pretty. If mint is around $350, I can kind of guess where this one might be. Thanks again.

And I'll still take any additional info if anyone has anything.

I know we've discussed this model before. Search the old threads for more info. This is Willie Nelson's favorite amp. There is a schematic out there, but it has deliberate errors in the "SuperSound" (pushbutton) circuits.

I've repaired a few through the years, most often they need electrolytic signal caps replaced.

        Hope this helps.

Thanks, Bill. I did a search but didn't find much. Maybe I quit too early. I'll go back in and see what I can find. Thanks for the cap tip!

Thanks, tboy. I appreciate the help. You guys keep this up and I might just hang around here more often...(and you might live to regret that!)
