  • Super Reverb speakers: series // or // series?

    Hi!

    The Super Reverb I'm building has 2 Eminence Ceramic Legend at the bottom and 2 Emi Legend Alnico at the top.
    I'd like to wire them to a 8ohm impedance so I'll be able to use them w/ my other amps (my OT is a multitap so no pb to have 8ohm out).

    Would that make a difference in the tone if I wire them:

    series parallel:

    1Alnico + 1 Ceramic in series on one side, and 1 Al + 1 C in series on the other side, both side in parallel

    OR

    // series:

    1Al + 1C in // on one side, and 1Al + 1C in // on the other side, both sides connected in series.

    If that makes a diffeence, which option should I take?

    Thanks!

    Victor

    ...without either: (a) changing the OT; or, (b) using one of Ted Weber's Z-Matchers, you "...can't get THERE from HERE."

    ...the original SR uses four each 8-ohms speakers wired in parallel, for a total impedance of 2-ohms...and that's what the original Fender OT is designed for (Zoo = 4200:2 ohms).

    ...any other combination will NOT sound the same; although switching to 8-ohm tap will "work" by wiring two-sets of speakers in series, and then wiring in parallel the two pairs of series-connected speakers.
    ...and the Devil said: "...yes, but it's a DRY heat!"
