    Some verby soundbytes

Spare time today (Saturday over here) so I did a few bars of the 6G15 clone plugged into my 5G9 clone FWIW.

Me twiddling on ma strat. Mic'd with SM57 through my desk into Garageband (with didgidrummerer on the mac). I like the syrupy effect of the trem with the 'verb through this raunchy little amp combo. Strat on neck p'up - Amp Inst Vol 4-5; Tone 6-7, and on the reverb unit Dwell 3-4; Mixer 4-5; Tone 6.

Methinks the 5G9 tends to carry a reverb unit better than my 5E3 for some reason.

Now, what am I going to build next?

Ssssssweet. I hope mine sounds like that! Mine has a front and back panel so I'm now working on faceplates and graphics, but I should be ready to build in about two weeks. Tubeswell, that's a very inspiring tone your getting.

Im just thinking about building this thing. I just have a quick question.

How much budget should I have? I of course wanna spend as little as possible to collect all the parts. not buying kits. I will build everything including cabinet.

Im poor student so just wondering how much I need to save up. guessing around $200?

        thanx!

What it cost? - I dunno - I never kept track - you need to price the parts up. But if you buy them one part at a time, who cares? If you're going to build it like I build mine, you'll need:

Main switch, fuse & holder, pilot lamp & holder (I use the fender tweed-style ones with the coloured beizel and the bayonet mounting)
          PT - I used a 240-0-240PT @ 100mA with a centre-tapped 6.3V heater winding
          Reverb Tranny - I used a 5k5 to 8R 10-12W (but any SE Champ-type OT will do)
          Choke - 4H 40-50mA
          switching input jack
          output jack
footswitch jack & plug & footswitch (& cable)
          2 x RCA jacks
Accutronics type 4 pan (spec'd for the 8R reverb tranny)
          4 x RCA plugs & ~ 1 metre of shielded cable
          12AT7, 12AX7, 6V6GT
          2 x noval sockets, 1 x octal socket
          2 x 250kN pots, 1 50kN pot
          3 x 40-50uF 450V caps
          1 x 220uF 25V cap
          2 x 25uF 25V caps
          Other high-voltage (400V - 630V) caps - .01uF, .002uF, .05uF, 250pF, 2 x .1uF
          2 x 1N4007 diodes
          1/2W Resistors 3 x 1k5, 3 x 100k, 2 x 2M2, 1 x 220k
          1W resistor 10k
          3W - 5W resistor 1k
          Assorted lengths of wire
Assorted nuts and bolts (including stand-off nuts) for mounting stuff
Eyelet board(s) and eyelets (and if you're going to make that - the tools you'll need)
Mains cable and plug (& A/C outlet if you want that - I prefer to hard-wire my cables in)
Sheetmetal for the chassis, nuts, bolts and rivets - plus the tools you need to fabricate the chassis.
Timber, glue, screws, bolts, tee-nuts, covering material, handle and feet for the cab - tools you need to construct it
          Solder, Iron, multimeter etc
          A couple of weeks time
