  • bf pr rev high plate voltage

    here we go again, seems like every amp i build has wicked high plate voltage. this one (an aa1164) has 470v at .04 ma. i changed to a russian 5y3 (wich really isnt a 5y3), im down to 460v. if i put a nos 5y3 ill probably be at 450-455. so do i just re bias? or find tubes that can handle the voltage?

    Are the tubes in it while you take these readings? AMp power supplies will read higher when the tubes are not installed.

      yes, tubes are in. i just tried a new set of messa 6v6's, one reads 34ma the other is 14. guess ill go back to the fender/russian 6v6's.

        i put in a russian 5u4. i get 422 plate volts with russian 6v6's at 28ma. i put in an nos rca 5u4, 414v at 24ma, changed to tung sol 6v6's (current production) i get 413v at 26ma. i think im done.
