  • Angle Front Chassis

I'm getting a run of chassis made, a la Fender style but with the flexibility for different tube and control layouts. They will be 1/8" aluminum, mounting as Fender does, side straps and screws on the rear of the chassis, up to 6 controls (for now), VTBRSI like a Princeton Reverb, or VTMBVP, VTMBSI, VTMBV. I will have powder coated faceplates labeled with these variations. The chassis will be punched for 3 nine-pin sockets and I will drill the rest according to whatever tube layout is required. If there's any interest I'll get more made, bringing down the cost. What think ye?

Are you located in the US of A?

I'm from the Netherlands but I can use some PR (or NON reverb Vibrolux) chassis. If I were you I should drill at least 4 noval-socket-holes and having a PT-hole (must sounds funny but I'm no native speaker) for at least a DR PT (or a SR or Bassman PT).

    Alum. would also be cool.

Just some toughts, wat price do you have in mind?
    Love, peace & loudness,

      Hi Chris,
I'm in Canada. I'm hoping to keep the cost below US$80. I like your idea of doing 4 noval holes, probably standard. I'm just wondering if I should have 7 potentiometer holes in the chassis. The faceplate would have 5 to 7 holes depending on anyone's control requirements. I wouldn't get a PT hole cut as there is just too much variation (stand-up, x-mount) and sizing. The more I get the cheaper it will be. I'm just at the point where I need to submit drawings and get a prototype made.

Why don't you order a hundred, then auction them off on flea bay one at a time until you've recovered your cost? Then order a hundred of the next type and so on. If they are chassis from popular builds you should have little trouble flicking them (and No I don't work for the guy).

Hey Tubeswell, 100???- I almost fell off my chair when I read that. I originally thought 20 for myself and maybe a few more if I can get a little interest from fellow builders and some feedback. I'll probably post on a few of the other boards tonight and expand my cast. Do you think 6 control holes are enough?
          7 would be max.

Prototype chassis is done, 10 gauge aluminum, 21"w x 2 1/8"h x 7 1/2"d, 7 holes for pots, faceplates will have 5 to 7 controls in any combination you desire. The chassis has 4 noval holes for preamp tubes, the rest can be drilled quite easily (it is aluminum after all) according to circuit requirements. With this width, you can build a head, 1x12 combo, 2x10, 3x10 or 4x10 combo. Pics to follow when I take delivery.

I'm waiting in anticipation of the price.
Hope you have one for a Fender Deluxe Reverb or Pro Reverb.
I'm gathering parts now and will need a couple of chassis.
