  • reverb to a dc30

    Hello everybody

I'm building a dc30 clone and I'm trying to figure out how to fit a reverb in there.

I looked at the chieftain reverb, but the reverb is connected as the second channel on the phase inverter. So I don't know how to mod it as I would like the reverb to work on both channels in my dc30.

Hi, and welcome to the "place" !

    Hmmm...
Seems to me you got the way an LTPI works wrong....

an LTPI ( or Long Tailed Phase Inverter ) has not "two channels" as per your statement. Basically, it's a "differential amplifier", and its primary function is to provide two out-of-phase signals to the ( control ) grids of a push-pull output stage ( it can also perform some tone-shaping too ).

If you look at the multitude of schematics available on the web, you'll see that almost all of them have reverbs, tremolos and NFB ( Negative Feedback ) loops tied at one side of an LTPI. Being the LTPI a differential amplifier, this grants the effects/NFB are "applied" ( or should I say mixed ) to whatever signal appearing at the LTPI's input.

Hope this is enough to give you a rough idea "in a nutshell", for an exhaustive description of LTPIs and the way they work, check the Valve Wizard's site ( or better yet get yourself his excellent book " Designing tube preamps for Guitar and Bass " ).

    Hope this helps

    Best regards

    Bob

      DC 30 w/reverb

I have NOT built this amp. Just grabbed a SCH editable schematic to demonstrate how I would attempt to approach it if I wanted to add reverb to a DC30.

Not sure on the value of the mixing resistors? I put 220k ....... however, they may need 330k or 470k??

I have successfully used this reverb topology on numerous amps and all 3 of the amps I currently own have this type of reverb which I prefer over the traditional fender type as this one only uses one tube and verbs more mids.

      With respect, Tubenit
