Here's the deal, fellas. I have simplified my touring stage rig and have left the Boogie/JSX heads and ginormous pedal board home for my overseas touring. I am now bringing my PodXT Live for obvious reasons.
I am looking to build a diode rectified tube power amp in the 120-200w range to amplify my PodXT Live. I want clear and transparent power with balls, so maybe I am describing the power section of a bass amp? Whatever it is must be able to crank without breaking a sweat.
Are there any good schematics out there of suggestions from you guys as to what I am after in terms of tube selection? I'm thinking a quad of KT88s would pull off the job. Any opinions of thoughts on the matter?
By the way, the damn PodXTL is an amazing piece of gear once you have it dialed in. The presets are horrendous, but once you get into deep editing, you can have any tone you want with no digital artifacts in your sound. More importantly to me, you can ever capture the feel of what you are modeling.
..for a guy who has to endure 17-25 flights/tour this is a Godsend.
Best Regards,
~F
