A friend wants me to build one, because we experimented with hooking up a weber 12 to the champ, and it sounded pretty nice. Are there any considerations that need to be made aside from impedance for this to work seamlessly?

Not really, I like to plug a champ into a 412 sometimes!
Cabinet size has a big effect on how a speaker will sound. A small cabinet with a 12 will not sound the same as a large cabinet with a 12. Sometimes a 10 can sound better in a small cabinet than a 12 in the same cabinet. So you may want to consider a larger cabinet to realize full benefit from the larger speaker.

I did a 5F2A (not too far removed in topology) a couple of years ago with a 5E3 sized cab and a 15W 12" speaker. It had really good 'stairway' sound when dimed and with the NFB loop disconnected. Couldn't find the original post so here is the .mp3 againAttached FilesLast edited by tubeswell; 04-16-2010, 05:52 AM.Building a better world (one tube amp at a time)
