  • Anyone Build An AcePepper Rat Rod Amp?

Hey anyone here have any experience with the Ace Pepper Rat Rod. Schematic can be found here

    http://www.sonicdeli.com/ThunderTwea...nfo/RatRod.pdf

Seems to be a higher gain single channel deluxe style circuit.

Any thoughts on this schematic and the amp would be great.

    Cheers

That schematic looks pretty interesting, where did you find it? I would use my own layout though I did't like the way that is laid out on the turret board, it seems backwards to me.

Are you going to build this?

Im thinking about building this one. I've built a tweed princeton and deluxe and an 18 watt liteiib. Pretty much all the beginner designs out there. What layout changes would you suggest for that schematic? Also do you think he meant to use a hammond 269GX not a G6 because there is no such thing as a G6.

Yeah the G6 thing caight my eye too, and yes it has to be he GX.

The biggst thing about that layout, from my perspective, seems reversed. In general I like the filter caps and rectifier together and sometimes on a seperate board. To me the whole board looks backwards, I like the filters on the left and the input on the right as we are looking at the layout. There is absolutely nothing functionaly wrong with that layout, I just do things differently, that's all. If I were building this amp I would also go with a tube rectifier instead of SS and rework the power supply accordingly, but this is just MY thing with tube rectifiers, I like the feel or Vibe better with a tube rectifier.

It looks like a fun build,

Best of luck to you, and if you build please post progress pics.
