  • 4 vs. 16 ohm Cab Wiring

I am loading a 212 cab with 8 ohm speakers.
Obvious options are 4 or 16 ohm.

I'm using it for my Blackheart Handsome Devil head.
You can output to 4, 8, or 16 ohm.

As far as power output, breakup characteristics and performance is concerned (sound preference opinions are welcome, but obviously subjective) which ohm output do you all suggest?

The power output and headroom should be the same, and theoretically both should sound almost identical.

In practice there is a slight tonal difference when the speaker is plugged into a different OT tap than the one the NFB is taken from.

Also, when two speakers are connected in series, some resonances aren't as well damped as in the parallel case.

It only takes half an hour to try it both ways and see, but I expect the difference would be minimal.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"
