    Hi everyone,
    This is my first post!

    I'm interested in building a Brownface Deluxe, but leaving out the tremolo. Basically, I don't think I'd ever really use it, and I'm still a relatively novice amp builder (this'd be my third one), so I'd like to keep this simple. I'm working my way through Morgan Jones's Valve Amplifiers, but it's slow going.

    Which brings me to my question: What would I need to do to compensate for leaving out the tremolo, specifically where it connects at the power stage?

    I'm guessing that dropping the tremolo is not quite as simple as cutting the connection to the two 220k resistors across the grids of the 6V6's. However, having compared the schematics for the Marshall 18 watt and 18 watt "Lite", I don't think it'd be that much more complicated. Can someone help me out with what would need to be done?

    You still need the connection at the 2 220ks going to the (negative) bias circuit, but the other trem components you dont need. Doesnt look like there's a bias tap on the PT for the Deluxe, otherwise you could just build a typical Fender bias circuit.

      Gotcha.

      So, basically, I need the 100k resistor coming off one side of the PT primary, the diode, and the 22k resistor and 25uF paralleled cap attached between the 220k resistors? I can drop everything from the intensity control out, including that .05 uF capacitor?

      I'm not married to the deluxe PT, so if I got one with a bias tap, I could do something like above, but replace the 22k resistor with a 10k pot and suitable resistor, correct?

      Thanks for your help. I know this is a pretty basic question, but this has been slow learning for me.

        I dont have the schematic handy, but you've got the basic idea. I think you could use a 250k resistor instead where the intensity control is and connect the bias there. If you have a PT with a bias tap, build a typical FEnder BF style bias supply. Just make sure you get a working bias circuit!
