  • I Got tubes I need a plan or shematics

i have a working radio with tubes 4-12ax7s, 2-12at7s, 4-6bq5s and a few others listed on this site.
its looking like i can build 2 amps at 80 watts each. got speakers too.
any body got any idea on a set of schematics using these tubes, that would work?

I think you will find it difficult to get 80W out of a quad of 6BQ5s. The most that you can expect is around 30W for a quad. If you want a 30W amp, try something like the AC30. If you want two amps, try a Marshall 18Watt (really nice sound using parallel triodes, go to 18watt.com for more info) and an Orange Tiny Terror (there's a very active thread on this forum headed 'Does anyone know the Tiny Terror circuit' which has masses of information). This will give you two amps of around 15W each. You'll soon find that the valves are relatively inexpensive and the money is in the transformers that you need. As you already have the chassis and transformers for 4 twin triodes and 4 power pentodes I'd suggest looking for an amp design (such as an AC30 variant) that uses those. There's a load to choose from. Try Schematic Heaven, Duncan Amps, AX84.com and of course, the very knowledgeable and friendly people on this board.

I started building less than a year ago with zero knowledge of amps and electronics in general. I have now completed build #4. Only the first build followed a proven design - the rest have been made up using research and principles. It's hugely rewarding.

Just be careful - these amps have very high voltages inside them that can kill even after they have been switched off. they can store a lethal charge for hours or even days after switching off, so ALWAYS test the filter caps for DC voltage and then short them to ground just be sure before working on the insides of an amp.
    It's not microphonic - it's undocumented reverb.
