  • Decent quality pilot light for a weber 6a14 chassis

I bought a Weber chassis and built an amp for my brother. I have a bunch of vintage pilot lights and none of them seem to fit so I purchased an assortment of them from Weber when I was unable to get someone on the phone to help me.

The ones i got from weber are kinda...well, they're total crap! Has anyone else experienced this? I'm confused. Is this the norm for new production of just the inexpensive stuff they're including with their kits?

What's more- they STILL don't fit the chassis.

I have other stuff I can use but I'll be straightforward- I bought parts from Weber to speed up the build but it's ended up taking forever to get all the right parts together to go with it. My own builds with my usual stock of parts usually go much faster. I guess I should have purchased a whole kit!

You can use a Fender style pilot light in a Weber chassis. You need to modify it slightly and put electric tape on the chassis underneath the connections. You need to rotate one or both of the solder lugs so that neither is aiming down towards the chassis bottom. Turn gently and slowly or the socket can weaken.

I dont know about webers stuff, but it is probably from China or the likes.

I sell chineese and american made panel lights, and yes there is a big difference in quality, but the the chineese one works, I dropped an amp wth a chineese one fitted and the lens broke on impact but the rest of the unit was still in tact and working. so cant be that bad.

I've built three Weber kits, 5F6A, 5E8A, and Tore-Vibe. I've always ordered the Fender-style upgraded pilot light holder (FENPL-2) from Weber, not the standard one that comes with the kit, and they fit and work fine.
