  • First Amp Build

Sorry for the bad pics..they are from my phone. I built it from the chassis and cabinet from an old Crate amp donated by a friend of mine. This is an 18 watt Superlite II called a Baby Will from guitaramplifierpcbs.com. Here's the list:

burlap $3 a yard at the fabric store......total time probably 40 hours over several months....
    total cost about $300
    here's the specs
tubes are JJ Tesla from eurotubes (12ax7/EL84)
caps are Mallory from Antique Electronic Supply
    jacks are Neutrik
switches are Carling (both from Mouser)
    Pots are alpha from AES
The transformers are Chinee from Musical Power Supplies
speaker is a 12" Reaper from WGS

You are ignoring the obvious application, as either a door stop, or a boat anchor. Don't forget, not all of us can build an amplifier from scratch! We have to make do with what's easily available.

          Greetings from Northern Virginia!

Congrats on your first build. There is no shame in re-using cabinets, if it fits the bill, use it.

Northern Virginia? Where is Dragon Soup?

And there is no shame in taking it out to 500 feet, and sinking it. However, this will cause sea level to rise, think about it.
