  • clarification on PT wiring needed!

Hey all, just working on my first amp build. I have a good model to go off of, the Goodsell Super 17, but I'm using an original Hammond tranny set from an AO-35, so things aren't exactly the same, and I have a couple questions! I'm using a solid state rectifier, so I'm running the red wires from the secondary right to the filter caps. What then do I do with the yellow wires that would normally go to pins 2/8 on a rec tube? Also, and I know I could prob sort this running AC and metering, but I haven't had a chance yet, I was guessing that the green wire and red/yellow should be grounded, but wanted to ask.

    Thanks!

    Insulate & tie off the unused wires.(Pin 2 & 8).
Unless you want 5 volts for something.

cool. what do you think about the green wire? i think it's a center tap, but want to be sure.

YIKES... hope I didn't misunderstand this but, there's a good way to blow something up. You want to run the red wires from the hi-v secondary to your rectifier anodes if a simple full wave setup.... then a single wire from the common cathodes to your main hi-voltage filter cap and OT center tap if desired. The red/yellow wire can be connected to your first main filter cap's negative lead and then also to chassis ground.

oops, no misunderstanding, but I wrote it wrong! I DID connect the red wires to the anodes and then a single to the cap. Sorry about that. I tied off the yellow wires with wire nuts and set them aside. Haven't been able to meter yet, but I correct in the assumption that the green is a ground wire? Also, I have a 6.3V "Fender style" lamp for the amp, could I run that off one of the yellow leads?
