  • BF Vibrolux : impedance choice

    Hi guys,
I am building a BF Vibrolux clone and I can choose three impedances on the Heyboer OT I ordered : 4, 8, 16 ohms.
I know that the original's OT is 4 ohms but I think it should be better to choose the 8 ohms taper. It means two 16 ohms 10" speakers in parallel.

I would like to know your opinion ...

    Thanks

I don't know why you feel that using the 8 ohm output impedance would be better. I'm sure there are people who would argue for a specific impedance choice but if it were me I'd just stick with the 4 ohms.

Consider that you will have more speaker choices if you use 8 Ohm speakers. In addition, since you are planning on using the multi output impedance transformer, you can use either the 4 Ohm tape with the speakers wired in parallel or the 16 Ohm tap with the speakers wired in series. You will have two choices! If you are concerned with the special mojo that some people say that you get by using all of the secondary winding or any magical difference between parallel or series wired speakers then you will be able to try both and decide for yourself.

    Regards,
    Tom
