Painting an amp chassis.

Is there a reason why I should not paint the inside of an amp chassis?

I could mask the grounding points of course, but I think it would look good painted on the inside.

That is the two amps I have in for repair at the moment.
They both have painted chassis's.
Go figure.

Good friend of mine built an amp, got a lovely blue powder coat paint job inside and out on the chassis. Amp was noisy as could be. I had him scrape away the paint from the inside surface around the pot and jack holes so each part could ground itself to the chassis, and noise resolved.

So when you say grounding points, that includes the pot nuts etc. not just ground lug screws.


Just a thought though. Painting the insides is time and materials to no purpose. the amp owner will never know, and techs who ever service it will not care what it looks like.

Is the sheet metal "raw" or does it have some plating?
Is it steel or aluminum?
