      Love the vintage look.

As a frugal Scotsman I find that 12W of heat from an EL84 is about right for keeping the frost off ma sporran.

I completed that amp by painting the faceplate gold, the speaker grill black, and changing the knobs.

Steve, what make/model speaker is in that NinjaCorvetteGold amp? It has an interesting looking cone and surround, like a full-range hi-fi speaker.

It's an Eminence Beta 8, which is a full-range PA speaker right enough. Maplin had them on special, and I had one kicking around looking for a use. It sounded better than the Elac radio speaker that was originally in the amp.

You can read more about the project here.

Ah OK, I see the purple cone from behind and the label of course.... The new 8A's don't have the bigger paper dust cap, I wonder if it changed the sound any?

I believe mine is an 8A. The dust cap is the same size as the end of the voice coil, hard to see how they could have made it smaller.

OK maybe I'm seeing things looking through the grill...the opening is for a 10" speaker and it made the dome seem bigger then 2". The speaker is rated for 225 watts!!

                        Nice work Bluefinger.
Your two tone tolex covering design is very attractive.
                        Cheers,

                              First Build

My first attempt was a 5E3 with Triode Electronics parts.
Brother-In-law had access to a CNC punch press and fabricated the chassis.
Red oak was left over from a home remodeling project.
Learned as much about cab building as I did amp building. I now know what not to do.
I use the Vintage AC adapter (thanks R.G.) from the GEOFEX site to tame
the high B+ and heater voltages due to the Triode Electronics transformers.
Have parts to do the mods but it's a lotta fun as is.

This one's a Weber Tore-Vibe, standalone reverb unit with bias tremolo. Only a little tweak to the original schematic.
