  • Channel Switching Q

Before I wire this thing up and regret it, I thought I'd query here first. Last build I used relays to switch the signal off the input jacks to either side of the 1st stage 12AX7, both sides being different and going to different directions. As well, the unused grid was grounded by the other side of the relay. It worked well except for a pop when going from one channel to the other (1 to 2 only) and no amount of caps, resistors etc. would silence it.
This time out I'd like to switch after the 1st stage coupling caps. Will there be any weirdness or crosstalk or whatever from just leaving one side "hanging" so to speak. I'll parallel the grids so input signal will be on both triodes all the time but only one output gets sent on through the relay. Thoughts?

If the capacitor is just disconnected, it will pop when re-connected. You need a resistor to ground to keep it charged.
WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
