I'm not sure EXACTLY, but I believe the amp acts this way because the 12AX7 is not being driven as hard as you add more NFB
one of the members with a better understanding of theory may be able to explain more clearly and acuratly, I would hate to give you the impression that I am an expert.
If I ever make that claim I'm sure to be called out by many of the guys who have helped me out these past few months.
Every thing I know about NFB (so far) I've pretty much passed on to you so hopefully we'll hear from some of the members who know the therory well and you and I will both get an education
one thing I have learned is that these basic amplifiers are pretty sturdy so I'm inclined to try out different things without too much fear of letting the smoke out
you do know that smoke is the essential conductor in amplifiers and when you release the smoke it no longer works
I learned that much on my own!
