  • radial box capacitors

I am looking for recommendations for 'Box' capacitors.

I have some .022uF 630V on hand that are marked with the Mallory "M" (M160) but are from Cornell Dubilier. The part number is CORNELL DUBILIER-160223J630E-F-CAPACITOR (http://www.cde.com/catalogs/160.pdf). These poly caps range from 2n2 nF to 10uF, so I can get all values I need.

There are also metalized polyprop caps from the same source: M171s: http://www.cde.com/catalogs/171.pdf
    And ones by Wima....

Are these decent choices? What do you guys recommend?

    Thanks in advance,
    John

Those caps seem ok from a data sheet point of view. I would expect the polypropylene to sound a little brighter than the polyester. With the short leads mounting them on an eyelet board makes it a pain if you want / have to change them. But you have the same problem with a PCB.
WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
REMEMBER: Everybody knows that smokin' ain't allowed in school !

I've used the yellow Panasonics that Mouser sells....they sound good and work well. I've also used some surplus Wimas and they sound and work fine too, but I haven't tried new ones. The Panasonics have longer leads....

Longer leads would be great. Thanks for the tip!
