The Sunn 200S is 24 inches wide. There is a nice space inside to fit an eyelet board where you can put the filter caps to replace the factory can cap. (four sections rated 525V) The space was used for a board with the tremolo and part of the reverb in the Guitar versions of the amp. The 2000S was 30 inches wide. One nice thing about the Sunns is that there is 3.5 inches between the power tubes.
WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.

They are out there. A quick search resulted in:

Notice the "Or best offer" option. If you are patient I bet you can find exactly what you want for $600 in a few weeks. Like I said. Fix the Bassmans, sell them, get what you really want.

Yes! I haven't seen anyone in a real band playing bass with a BF/SF Bassman amp for 40+ years but those Showman heads work great!

P.S. Unless the chassises are bent up and the wood in the cabinets is broken those heads are worth at least $100 apiece. (It was really cool q5 years ago when we could buy SF Bassman heads for $150 plus s/h.)

A Showman is just a Twin Reverb in head form I always thought. A lot of people like Ampeg V4s, the "Poor Mans's SVT". They used to be inexpensive as well.

Take a look at Weber's 6S100 amp kit.......a Sunn-like model, single channel, full tone stack, a pair of KT88's in a 24" long cabinet.

curious where you found that cab dimension (24")? The only comment on the 6S100 page is that it uses the same box as the heather model. But the Heather page doesn't offer any cab size info. However, on the Halle amp page, there is a note that the standard Weber box is 26" wide and they are now offering a "shorty" head cab that is only 20" wide. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to determine which of the Weber kits can be made to fit into the Shorty cab. And how exactly does this work, does the shorty cab come with a shorty chassis? Or are you left to figure out how to fit 26 pounds into a 20 pound bag? If the 6S100 kit can be built into the Shorty box, this just might be what I've been looking for.

But the 6S100 does look interesting. I wonder how complicated it would be to remove the presence and master volume controls and possibly upgrade the transformers? (the amp will be used for bass, not guitar) That would get you close to an old Sunn 200s (except for the added Mid tone control). I'm concerned that the Bass, Mid and Treble controls are somewhat interactive and that deleting the Mid control might be more difficult than it seems.

                Don't overthink it.

If you won't use mid or presence controls, simply set them to 5 and 0 respectively , which would be the "neutral" setting, and leave them there.

With the great advantage that if you ever want to use them or feel curious or lend somebody that head, they are already there

And for a killer, simple Fender preamp + Sunn power stage combination, look at the West amplifiers ("used by Grand Funk Railroad") which had their own thread here just a couple days ago.

Where, by the way, I commented: "an amp does not need more than 3 or 4 knobs"
