Hello all. Here's my first tube guitar amp build. I got the idea and the schematic from D-Labs on Youtube. It's a 3 watt single-ended amp with a 6X4 rectifier, 6SJ7 preamp, and 6F6 output tube. Per the video I used the power transformer, rectifier tube, and miscellaneous other parts from an old police radio, and some other things I had lying around, so I didn't have to order many parts. It was easy and inexpensive, and it sounds great, if a bit dark, but I actually like that and it's not muddy. It has a nice balance between bass, mids, and treble, and a pleasing transition to breakup which I credit to the pentode preamp. It has just a volume control and one input. I may add other features later like a NFB control, tone controls, or different inputs, but for now, I'm happy with it. It's fun to practice with and it's dead quiet, no hum or anything like that, so it would be viable for recording as well. I wanted to build something simple my first time; I already have a complete stack of parts to build a hot-rodded Super Lead, but I want to take my time with that one and do it right.
