  • Chassis sourcing?

    Hey guys,

Where are you purchasing your chassis? Does Hammond have a common design that is good for guitar amps, assuming we cna do the drilling and punching oursleves?

I've seen many comercial chassis, but they can be a bit pricey.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Bryan

I usually get blank Bud aluminum chassis from Mouser.

For most of the amps I build the 13" x 7" x 2" AC-409 works well. I've built Tweed Princeton clones (two tubes), a Firefly (three noval tubes), an AX84 P1 (one octal two noval tubes) and an 18w amp (5 noval tubes) on them. They are a tad on the flimsy side, so I wouldn't build anything bigger than a simple 18w circuit on them.

You can get the complete list of Bud chassis from the Mouser site.

Try this guy, he has an excellent product at decent prices. I have also used a number of Hammond chassis with good results.
