  • Octal power amp section

Here is a schematic for an all octal output section I'm working on: the end result should be a guitar amp, and I'm wondering if there is

1] anything extraneous in this circuit? I'm thinking at least the caps across the output transformer may be unneeded in a guitar amp and
2] can I just put this after a volume control and link it to my preamp of choice?

Thanks in advance, and I hope this schematic has fewer errors than my last one!

Oo...no bites on this yet? What I'd really like to do is plug a plexi preamp in front of this inverter/PP output section: any tips regarding setting the best level from a plexi pre to drive this without resorting to MV?

There are a couple of things that I question. The cathode of the top 6SN7 needs a 1.5K resistor to ground to bias properly. The grid of that tube doesn't have a DC path to ground unless it's provided by whatever is connected to the input. The 3.3M-680pf is connected to provide positive feedback, probably not a good thing. It will be likely to cause the thing to oscillate so remove those parts, the 270K and add a 1meg to ground. The .002's across the output transformer were probably added to prevent the transformer from arcing. A 470 ohm 1W resistor across the speaker should accomplish the same thing. The amp should probably have screen resistors in series with each 6K6 screen, 470 ohm 1W will protect the tubes.
WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
REMEMBER: Everybody knows that smokin' ain't allowed in school !
