  • How can I test an output transformer for impedance and power ??

    hey guys,

I just received an old school 50's style tube clock radio. Its pretty trashed the tubes are probably blown but I would like to try to convert it to a small guitar amp. It's in pretty bad condition so I may just be able to salvage some parts from it. One part of particular interest to me is the output transformer. How can I test it to find out the impedance and power? If anyone has any good links on small wattage amp building or transformers they would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Look at the output tube that drove it. Look up that tube in a tube manual. The specs for that transformer will be suited to that tube.
