  • 5F1 Grounding Scheme

Could anyone provide a detailed drawing or sketch of grounds only for a 5F! ?
I am trying to decide between star grounding, using the brass plate or using a ground bus. Or a combination...Thanks

The subject of grounding has been discussed extensively here in the past.
If you do separate searches on "star ground", "brass plate" and "ground buss"
you'll be able to read many threads on the subject. It won't all be related
to a 5F1 but the principles apply to all amps.

If after reading all that you're confused, that's perfectly normal. There is no
ultimate perfect way to ground an amp so you'll have to go with what seems
best to you. Then modify it if you don't like the results.

Then there's the split ground, where the grounds of the pre-amp filter cap, the vol pot, the preamp cathode resistors, all go to 1 input socket ground (the other input socket isn't grounded). All the other grounds, HT Center Tap, heater ground, AC Mains ground, input filter cap and screen filter cap grounds, output tube cathode resistor and grid load resistor grounds all go to one of the PT bolts. I believe the idea in that scheme is to not mix grounds which are associated with the high-voltage parts of the amp with other grounds that are associated with lower-voltage parts of the amp. This has worked well for me
