  • Hammond's new guitar OTs

I just found out that Hammond is now making guitar amp replacement OTs for Fender, Marshall & VOX.

I was going to purchase a Marshall 50w OT when I ran across them at Antique Electronics Supply. $75 for a Hammond 50w Marshall replacement OT. It's nice to see them making guitar amp specific stuff.

Has anybody tried one any of these new Hammond guitar OTs? Anybody have any info on how they sound?

They have been making them for years ... maybe the marketing people finally tacked a product name on a 50W OT ....

I thought that the drop in replacement transformers were new.

I haven't tried one, but I've heard good things about them. At $75, you can't really go wrong.

Then of course there the Heyboer transformers that Mojo sells:

A bit more, but these are known to be pretty good transformers. Either way you go, be sure to let us know how it turns out.

These are new, weren't in the '06 catalog, these have the correct wiring for the targetr amp, instead of that silly-ass convoluted schema of they usually employ in their transformers. Though having said that, I wouldn't put it past Hammond to be re-packaging the same 'ol xformers under a new part number with new output wire leads.
