  • cab pretty much done 5F2A/6G10 ala BF

    almost finished with my cab
I still need to find some black corners at a reasonable price

I also need to install a couple cleats for the baffle board, I ran out of any hardwood I wanted to use

other than that and ordering a ceramic Blue Pup from Weber's it's a done deal.

the amp is a 5F2A but for fun I call it a Phantom 6G10

a few mods like adding a line out and playing with the NFB.

I covered it in a snake skin material that I bought at JoAnn fabric. It's a "pleather" I found in thier discount bin. I had my doubts to the durability, but I covered a 5E3 head with it last November and it's none the worse for wear. The head belongs to my 19 yr old son who has an amazing ability to be able to break things like hammer heads, car doors and basket balls. no kidding he broke a friggin basket ball!

Looks nice Ray - how'd you do your faceplate in the end?

      photoshop
took the file to Staples (office supply chain store)
printed onto 7 x 14 card stock then laminated it.

it sounds cheezy but it looks like the real thing until your about 6 inches away

the feel isn't there, like aluminum printing, but I'm on a budget

I've been wanting to try a technique I've heard that some hobbiest PCB makers have used

that is to laser print onto glossy photo paper mirrored.

you can then iron the image on to a blank faceplate

spray with several coats of clear laquer (your choice of gloss level)

I will do some experimenting soon with that above technique and post some results if any one is interested.

this project is on a serious budget as I have been unemployed since Christmas, and I'm on a serious time schedule as it's being given as a birthday gift next saturday to a very good friend.

If I come up with an affordable, durable and good looking face plate afterwards, I'll simply refit the amp

        The amp looks really good.

I would definitely be interested. Making the face plate look good has been a challenge for me.
