I made a back panel for an amp and I think I may have a done a nice job on exactly the wrong thickness wood. I was going to order the fender tolex and water-based glue from Mojo, if that helps.
I have a music man 210-65 that I've made an upper rear baffle for. I made this bafffle out of 1/4 baltic birch but it appears that maybe 3/8" is the right material --> I went with 1/4" because all Fender seem to be 1/4". The stock lower baffle is slightly less than 1/2" (.44") and I was thinking that 1/16" per side of tolex would bring it up to the proper thickness.
In any case, I bought 3/8" and the tolex comes in a few days so I will report which one is right when I have all the pieces in hand and put a caliper on it.
