  • Reinforcing A Fender Twin Reverb Cabinet?

It appears the 70's twin reverb cabinets do not use finger joints.

Any ideas on how to reinforce the joints to make them stronger?

biscuits if you have a biscuit cutter. If not, Harbor Freight sells one pretty cheap. Or borrow one.

I assume you are trying to repair an existing cabinet.
You could insert a square piece of wood in the bottom corners, and glue and screw them to the panels. But there's no room at the top, (internally). You might use 1/8 aluminum angle, and chisel out the panels to accomodate it, and epoxy, and screw them to the top, and side.

In reality, without doing major work...any repair would just be a band-aid.

Sorry to suggest, but the best alternative for such a heavy amp (should you really desire fixing the old cab) is to... remove all the tolex, do the reinforcements you see fit (biscuits or dowls and reglue), or even make a new cab out of pine. Then re-tolex and your back in business.

Better yet, purchase a new Cab from Mojo and save the old one should you sell the amp to someone needing to keep things original. Might cost you a few hundred bucks, but would save you a lot of time and trouble.

        Just my two cents.

I was hoping for some kind of angled bracket to mount on the outside of the cabinet along the lengths of the corners.

Needs to look nice of course. Maybe chrome plated.

I bet this is asking for way too much.
