Where to buy some good tweed?

Hi everybody,

Just looking for opinions on where to buy some tweed and grill cloth for my 5e3 cab. I have heard that the quality and color of some is better than others. Does tweed have a backing to it so that glue does not soak thru? From what I have read, some people have had problems with glue soaking thru and staining the tweed.

check out AES at tubesandmore.com. i think their tweed is as good as anyone else's. as far as gluing is concerned, if you use too much glue it will soak through. they key is not to use too much glue.

MOJO has the best dark brown thread tweed, but at $39 a yard.

NO it does not really have a sizing backing per say and if you are not careful it does get a soaked look.

Is that the dark brown thread twill and is it actually cloth and not that vinyl stuff that looks like tweed/twill?

Speaking of the 'vinyl' stuff, Gibson used something like clear, old-fashioned table cloth vinyl backed with cotton 'tweed' fabric.

I have looked all over but can't find anything but the 'Fender' style.

Can't quite bring myself to dress a Gibson in another man's clothes so to speak; does anyone have any idea about 'Gibson' style tweed?

I'm a huge fan of Larry Rodgers, who has been building Fender amps for over a decade. He's a great source of info and parts for tweeds. He just got a digital camera and has been taking photos to send his customers.
