  • Tolex Glue Question

    Hi,
I haven't built a cabinet in about 10 years so I'm a little rusty. I still have some tolex glue left over from before that is more than 10 years old. I purchased it from Antique Electronic Supply and it is probably hide glue although I'm not totally sure. Would it still be good after this much time? I opened it up and was surprised at how runny it was. It has the consistency of water. Seems I would get it everywhere all over everything if I tried to apply it. I can't remember if it was like this originally. I would normally expect glue to get thicker and harden with time if anything. The only way I can see applying it is with one of those foam brushes and maybe that's how I'd done it before.

Anyway, will the glue still be good if it's over 10 years old and is it normal for it to be this thin and runny?

    Thanks,
    Greg

    This? https://www.tubesandmore.com/product...applying-tolex

It has the look and consistency of milk and is water based for easy cleanup, and has very low odor. It dries tacky in about 30 minutes under normal humidity and room temp. I've been using it on my builds for the past decade. It's not the stickiest--edges have sometimes lifted--so apply heavily to each surface.

      Thanks,
I also tested a small piece and the glue seems to work fine.
