  • Installing Metal Corners

I've been fussing with the best way to install the Fender-style metal corners for some time. The recess thing complicates the installation, particularly where to drill the holes.

I just tried squashing both recesses on the corner flat in a vice to locate the center of the hole better. Just fit up the squashed corner and mark with a Sharpie. Drill 3/32" then 1/2" countersink. Now the recessed corners fit right.

That's pretty much exactly the way Lew and I use to do it too Smitty.
I made jig with an old corner, used an actual countersink drill bit to kiss the tolex, then move the corner away and relieve the vinyl and the wood under it.
