  • Odd Resistor question

    Hello,

I'm converting an old GE Radio to a stereo amp and came across a weird resistor. I don't have a picture but it seemed to be a thin wire encased in heat resistant woven fiberglass covering. Under the covering was a thin single strand wire wrapped in a glass like casing. I'm just wondering what I should use to replace it with. I've attached the portion of the schem. that shows where it goes.

    The amp uses 2- 12ax7's and 2-6AQ5's

Thanks a bunch for any info anyone has to offer.

Your schemaqtic calls it a 10 ohm resistor. I have no reason to argue with your schematic. A short piece of Nichrone resistance wire in a glass tube - instant resistor.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Thanks for that Enzo. I have no reason to argue with the schematic either. It just threw me as I have never seen anything like it. I'll pop one in there. Should it be a wirewound? Does it have to be 10 ohms or would 8 be close enough? Thanks for any info.

Also, I believe you used to fix my amps back in the 80's when I was in MI. (Music store in Frandor?) I asked WAY to many questions even then and you were always super patient and helpful.

      Thanks again
