  • Power cord directly to rectifier tube?

I have an airline high fi and the power cord goes directly to the rectifier, I don't remember it even having a fuse! This is uncommon right? Also It has two 6F6G tubes, kind of coke bottle shaped. Is this tube similar to the 6L6 or 6V6? thanks

This does have a power transforner.

I bet that transformer only does the 6v for the heaters though.

This would most likely be another example of a "hot chassis" circuit. Extremely dangerous to use for guitar unless you add an isolation transformer for the mains.

6F6 was a low voltage power tube good for maybe 12-13 watts in push pull.

Google "6F6G" and various data sheets for it will pop up.

I replied to the initial post in this thread remarking about needing an isolation transformer (at least) and some info about the tubes he inquired about, to which the OP responded that the unit has a transformer.

What happened to my post? It's just gone.
