  • #42 power tubes?

I have this great, roomy chassis that I'd like to make something in. It is from an old Philco console radio. It used 2 #42 Power tubes. I have converted radios/organs to guitar amps before but i usually just strip them down and build something classic based on the existing power tube compliment.

I'm looking at the schematic (see attached snip-it) and am wondering if the transformers would work with either 6V6's or el84's??? Or is the O.T. too wimpy?

Thanks a million in advance for any info,

    Chris

Either one would work fine, depending on the size of the #42 socket hole.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. The existing holes are probably closer to 6V6 size but I can make a flange to accommodate EL84's if I need to.

      Thanks again!
