  • rca orthophonic amp chassis turned safe

    well, kind of.....

i'm not to sure why i have spent time on this, but maybe it has something to do with simply being tubes...

so i have this chassis that i got for 5 bucks. after a few days, i was finally able to pin down the schematic. it's complement is 1 x 12ax7 and 2 x 50c5's.

now, having worked on aa5 tube sets that use line for filament and voltages, i realize that i don't really want to use this chassis with no real isolation from the mains.

on that note, i remembered that in the garage, is a box, that requires two man lift because it is full of power transformers salvaged from tube sets and modern sets.

to make a long story short, i wrapped a new secondary and am at about 1:1.05 with it.

hums like crazy, (so i must teach it the words), but need to work the lamination to take care of that.

now i can build a small box for this chassis.

the 50c5 p-p does crank some power for what it is.

    anyways, here is the schematic:

Working...
