  • old canadian hifi to tweed deluxe

I acquired an "electrohome" phono/radio circa 1946 that has a pre amp and power amp section somewhat similar to a Fender 5e3. It has a 12at79instead of 12ay7), 6j5(instead of 12ax7), 2-6v6gt and a 5y3gt rectifier. See schematic. I removed the unnecessary radio section and wired a jack to the phono input. It works. My plan is to rebuild with a new chassis, caps etc. My question is, what improvements can be made along the way? A 5e3 has the volume pots after the 12ay7. 5e3 also has one input to pin 2 and one input to pin 7. Would it be better to try to implement that set up? What about the 6j5 vs. 12ax7? Tone control set up? Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
