  • Add Choke in AC-15 CCI ?

    Hammond 158M
10H, DC Current: 100mA, Resistance: 262 ohms, Max DC Volts: 400V.
The first filter capacitor is rated 450v, can a choke be spliced right between the SI diodes and the first filter cap ?
There's a '500v' sign at the ground rail of the first filter cap, right after the fuse/standby switch...the cap says 450v but it's ground line is marked with 500v...I want to lean toward the caps V rating..where said choke would be connected, but the 500v mark on the gnd. line makes me twice think it.
@@ Rate any help figuring out how to put the suggessted [of other] choke in a re-issue AC 15 welcomed !

What you are proposing is a choke input filter arrangement; I think a special type of choke is needed for that. Regular chokes are intended for 'pi' filter arrangement, with a cap either side.
The normal place for a choke in power supply B+ is between the plate and screen grid nodes.
