  • Problems with cabinet grounding

I finished my new amp build and its cabinet. Its a kit from ampmaker, the model is the Double Six. Double Six 1W/6W/12W amp

Its a great amp and sounds incredible, perfect for a large ability for clean sounds. I've built the cabinet from pine wood and is all ready, haven't taken pictures yet.

Everything seems to work properly when trying the amp on my working table, I've checked the values of all the testing in the manual and everything looks good, and the amp sounds perfect.

The problem comes when I attach the chassis to the cabinet, at first the amp just doesn't sond, then I noticed that by pushing it upwards towards the upper wood side of the cab it fixes but if I only tghten the screws the sound goes away. Then by moving the input cable or anything for that mater the sound comes back but slowly fades out.

I'm eatnig my brains out to understand what's wrong. I guess it could be a grounding probem, But I don't get how attaching itto a wood cabinet could be a problem?

Also noticed there's a little hum in the background even without anything plugged in, but I've done all the groundign on the layout, is there an important tip on soldering grounding cables thant I'm not familiar with?

    Here is the layout

thank you for any help, I'm desperate as I'm starting recording my new album soon and my sessions on the studio about to start and I need this amp for all my guitars

    cheers

May I suggest rechecking your connections, especially any chassis connections.
Either a connection is being bumped when you attach the chassis to the cab, or the cab itself is flexing, causing a connection to fail.
You could try "chopsticking" the wiring with a wooden probe, trying to cause the failure.
    Carefully!

Thanks for the response. Today it actually made a problem and squealing sound too being on the table out of the cab. But it suddenly got fixed when unlugging and plugging the input jack, until it just started to work fine again. Could this be the preamp valve? or the input socket?

Did you solder properly? Try to rule it out by taking a piece of plastic, electrical insulator, and poke around in your build. That way you'll probably find any bad solder joints.
In this forum everyone is entitled to my opinion.
