I just built this amp schematic and after eliminating an unwanted tremolo effect at full volume, screeching, being tuned in to the local radio station (not a good one either , some humms and buzzes and faulty pots I still have one small problem left!
The tone control seemed to effect volume more than anything I had the right 0.1uF value cap in place and all wiring was triple checked I just couldn't understand why it didn't have the desired effect on tone so I decided to attach one end of an alligator clip to the chassis and one end to each of my collection of caps and then poke it in to the signal path until I found one that didn't effect volume eventually I found a small 2.5nF ceramic cap that only had an effect on tone, it is a very limited range but better than what I had before.
And what I had before was a 400v DC 0.1uF poly type cap, so is it the case that these high voltage larger caps will drop most of your signal and ceramic caps are what you need to use?!
cheers,
Jim
