  • trouble with EF806 channel...new build

    Voltages seem O.K. ?

    EF806 voltages

    pin 4 260v

    pin 9 110v

no voltage on any other pin. These reading where taken with no tube in the EF806 socket

Main fuse blows with EF806 installed and the rectifier flashes when taking off stand-by.

Hum and some noise from EF806 channel when no tube is installed in socket.

    Also,

Sounds like tuning in an AM radio when waving hand over P.I. tube.

Any pointers would be most appreciated

Does the main fuse blow even with all the volume controls turned down? If not, then you have massive instability. If yes, then Lord knows what the problem is.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

checked that there isnt a burr or wire that connects a pin from the tube to ground or something that isnt related to the diagram?

must be something wrong for a preamp to be blowing fuses. tried another tube? (maybe a bad tube with something shorted inside)
