Sadly there are TONS of useless schematics and projects around, they are VERY popular because they are very SIMPLE, sad thing is they do not work.
To be more precise, they are TOYS, they "work" as much as a plastic "Cowboy Colt 45 revolver" from the 50s "shoots bullets" ... plastic bullets loaded in cylinder pushing springs (I had one of those when I was 7 or 8)
