V4 1st half oscillating and didn't have a shorted jack on hand. 2nd hald was 186 on the plate, 23.4 on the grid and 42.5 on the cathode.
Voltages are within tolerance, but PI (V4B) voltages look somewhat low.
What is the voltage drop across the 56k PI plate resistor?

The drop across that resistor is 45vdc

Still stumped. Today is dedicated to becoming unstumped.

What's RG's "neon trick" for testing the OT?

Here's the neon test I recommend (don't remember the source):
            neontest-1.pdf

Push the button for a second or so to allow the charging current to ramp up.
When releasing the button the neon should flash.

            Use a fresh battery.

              Is this normal?

On the secondary of the OT when reading between grpund and the 4/8/16r taps it's reading 1.5r, 1.7r and 2.0r

I may be able to get a neon bulb tomorrow at the local surplus store.

                Bad volume pot.

I had read the pot several times and compared it to another one, observing the sweep and it tested fine. Finally swapped in another one just to see and blammo. Full volume. How weird is that?
